How Much Protein Can You Absorb In One Meal? (20g? 30g? 100g?)

The 30g/sitting rule seems to be pretty widely accepted. But if you have a meal with 40 grams of protein in it, what happens to the extra 10?

Does it just become fat? If so, is eating a meal with only 30 grams of protein but more fat preferable?
